Most lamps light for a few seconds when you power the car on. That check is not a fault by itself. This page does not replace the owner’s manual for your model year and market. Icons are schematic illustrations used on this site. They are not offered as the vehicle maker’s artwork, and they have not been checked against it. They may not match the lamp on your cluster. Urgency levels are this site’s classification, not the maker’s. If they differ from the manual, follow the manual.
What it means
The car has reduced the power it will deliver. On the Atto 3 this is the drive-power limit warning, often drawn as a turtle. It can appear when the traction battery is very low, very hot, or very cold, and also when a fault is limiting output. The accelerator will feel flat. That is the system protecting itself, not a sport mode.
What to do
Ease off and leave a larger gap. If the battery is nearly empty, charge it. If the battery-temperature lamp is also on, stop and let the pack cool. If the lamp stays on with a normal state of charge and a normal temperature, have the powertrain checked. Do not keep asking for full acceleration.

Common questions
- Is the turtle lamp always a breakdown?
- No. A very low battery, or a battery that is very hot or very cold, can limit power on purpose. Charge the car, or let the battery return to a normal temperature. If it stays on in mild conditions with charge left, have it checked.
- Can I still drive with it on?
- The car may still move, with less acceleration and less speed in reserve. That does not mean it is safe to continue. Leave more room, avoid overtaking, and have it checked if the lamp stays on after charging or after the battery cools.
