- Check soon
Most lamps light for a few seconds when you power the car on. That check is not a fault by itself. This page does not replace the owner’s manual for your model year and market. Icons are schematic illustrations used on this site. They are not offered as the vehicle maker’s artwork, and they have not been checked against it. They may not match the lamp on your cluster. Urgency levels are this site’s classification, not the maker’s. If they differ from the manual, follow the manual.
What it means
Stability control brakes individual wheels and can reduce drive to keep the car on its path. A flash while you are moving means it is working, for example on a wet bend, and is not a stored fault. A steady lamp means stability control is unavailable. This lamp does not mean the service brakes or ABS have been checked. A separate lamp that reads OFF means the driver has switched the system off. The Seal uses this same stability lamp on both the rear-drive car and the dual-motor car. There is not a second stability lamp for the front motor.
What to do
If it only flashes, ease off and let it finish. If it stays on, slow down, especially in a bend or a swerve, and have it checked. Switch it back on if you turned it off. Stop if the ABS lamp and the red brake lamp are on as well.

Common questions
- It flashed on a wet bend and then went out. Is that a fault?
- A flash while the car is moving means stability control is doing its job. A fault is a lamp that stays on after the start-up check, or that comes on and stays on without the car sliding.
- I see an OFF lamp, not this one. What is that?
- That is the switch state. Stability control has been turned off and will not help in a skid until you switch it back on. This page is the fault lamp, which stays on when the system itself is unavailable.
