Tire pressure monitoring

Most lamps light for a few seconds when you power the car on. That check is not a fault by itself. This page does not replace the owner’s manual for your model year and market. Icons are schematic illustrations used on this site. They are not offered as the vehicle maker’s artwork, and they have not been checked against it. They may not match the lamp on your cluster. Urgency levels are this site’s classification, not the maker’s. If they differ from the manual, follow the manual.
What it means
This lamp watches the tire-pressure sensors. It lights in the start-up check and should go out. A steady lamp with a yellow pressure reading means that tire is low. A fast flash, or a pressure shown in red, means that tire is losing air quickly. A yellow temperature reading means that tire is too hot. Dashes, or a request to check the system, mean the monitor has lost a sensor or has a fault of its own. Use the placard on that car’s door. A plug-in Seal U and a battery-only Seal U can list different pressures, and a Song Plus placard from another market can differ again.
What to do
If a reading is red or the lamp flashes quickly, stop and deal with that tire before you continue. If a reading is yellow, set the cold pressure to the placard on the driver door, then confirm the warning clears. Use that car’s placard. If every reading is missing, or the lamp returns at the placard pressure, have the sensors checked. Leave more room until the pressures are right, because a soft tire lengthens a stop.

Common questions
- The lamp is on but the tires look fine. Can I ignore it?
- A tire can be low without looking flat. Read the pressures on the cluster. Yellow means low, red means a fast leak, and dashes mean the system is not reporting.
- I set the pressure and the lamp is still on.
- Drive a short distance so the sensors report again. If the lamp stays on at the placard pressure, the monitor or a sensor needs a check. Do not keep adding air above the placard to force the lamp off.
