Most lamps light for a few seconds when you power the car on. That check is not a fault by itself. This page does not replace the owner’s manual for your model year and market. Icons are schematic illustrations used on this site. They are not offered as the vehicle maker’s artwork, and they have not been checked against it. They may not match the lamp on your cluster. Urgency levels are this site’s classification, not the maker’s. If they differ from the manual, follow the manual.

What it means

Auto hold can keep the Han still after you stop, without your foot staying on the brake. The white AVH lamp means standby: the feature is switched on and is not holding the car yet. Standby needs the switch on, the driver belt fastened, the doors closed, and the brake system healthy. The lamp turns green when the hold is actually applied, after you stop with the brake in a driving gear. After a long hold the Han applies the parking brake and returns this lamp to white standby. The circled P is that parking brake. White AVH does not replace it when you leave the car.

What to do

Fasten the driver belt and close the doors if you expect the white lamp. A green lamp means you can release the brake pedal and the car should stay put. Press the accelerator to move off. If you leave the car, select Park and confirm the circled P. Do not rely on auto hold in place of the parking brake.

Common questions

The lamp is white while I am stopped. Is the car held?
White is standby only. Green means the hold is applied. With a white lamp, keep your foot on the brake.
It turned green, then the parking-brake lamp came on.
After a long hold the Han sets the parking brake and returns auto hold to standby. That handover is normal.
